Odkryté příběhy 20. století

An exposition installed in a former atomic shelter in Bezručovy sady uses the authentic atmosphere of a two-storey underground space with thirty-nine rooms, whose corridors extend into the city walls. The sombre walls and confined spaces naturally resonate with the stories of witnesses of war and communism from the Olomouc Region.

The audiovisual installation works with large-format projections of archival photographs, original sound design and a series of research stations based on authentic documents. In the central part of the shelter, a projection hall was created presenting a cross-section of the Memory of the Nation collection — one of the largest memorial archives in the world.

The entire installation was designed with an emphasis on minimal interventions to the original shelter space. Facsimiles of documents printed on period paper create the feeling of working with a real archive.
