What We Do
Spaces for Learning and Play
Exhibitions, play zones, outdoor elements or travelling exhibitions — we design and deliver spaces that draw visitors into a story. We know how to mix the right balance of play, discovery and learning. The result is an experience that lingers and connects everything.
Cultural Heritage Interpretation
We prepare interpretation plans, concepts and scripts that help people see connections and discover the value of a place. Even complex and multifaceted topics can be presented in an engaging way that speaks to a specific audience.
Place and Community Development
Together with municipalities and institutions we seek ways to strengthen local identity through culture. We engage the public and test ideas in practice. We create clear strategic documents that are not formal, but connect communities around shared topics and goals. We guide long-term processes and help make good decisions.
Creative Learning and Children's Participation
We design educational programmes that connect learning, creativity and personal experience. We help schools and institutions use participatory methods.
Storytelling & Audiovisuals
We create spots, animations, documentary and educational films and e-learning courses. We see audiovisuals as a bridge between a subject and its audience.
Events and Festivals
From city games to light festivals — we search for formats that open dialogue. We also offer video documentation and hybrid conferences.

We are a creative studio where audiovisuals, art, design, education and architecture come together in new and unique forms.
Our passion is creating environments where people can wonder, discover and learn.
With over 20 years of experience, we can conceive, design and deliver projects together — from the first idea to the final form. We can take responsibility for the whole or serve as guides through the entire process.
We believe the future is not given — it is ours to create.
Jakub Deml
Partner, Director
Cultural manager and strategist, lecturer and audiovisual creator with twenty years of experience at the intersection of culture, education and place development. He has led cultural institutions and worked in independent production — he understands both worlds and can bridge them. As a consultant he has worked with numerous Czech towns on cultural and tourism development. He is a long-standing advocate for culture as a tool of regional development and for connecting art with education — he is a member of the Board of the platform uMĚNÍM.CZ.
Superpower: sees the big picture and the detail at the same time — he can strategically anchor a project in the context of a city or region and then happily pick up a power drill. He loves working with wood.
Zdeněk Durdil
Partner, Director
Director, animator, scenographer and educator. He moves at the intersection of audiovisuals, spatial design and education — and that is precisely where Room Specific's strongest projects are born. In projects he is responsible for audiovisual production, exposition scenography and creative solutions connecting story with space. Outside the studio he is dedicated to educating young audiovisual talent and collaborates on theatre projects at tisícihran.cz.
Superpower: solutions that surprise with their directness and ingenuity. A strong idea, simply.
Džian Baban
Composer, sound designer, screenwriter
Composer, sound designer and screenwriter. He composes for fiction and documentary film, television and radio, and theatre — as a sound designer he has collaborated with Czech Radio among others and contributed to numerous multimedia exhibitions. As a screenwriter he writes for film, theatre and comics. He contributes to Room Specific projects both on the sonic-musical and content side.
Superpower: can tell any story through sound. Where others look for an image, he first listens.
Matyáš Barák
Designer, artist
Designer and artist working at the boundary of design, architecture and fine art. In his work he focuses on material experiments, structural principles and the relationship between an object and its user — he brings to Room Specific projects a sensitivity for the visitor's physical experience and spatial work. Graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, his work has been presented at Designblok, Dutch Design Week and NYCxDESIGN. More at www.matyasbarak.com.
Superpower: finds the perfect intersection between form and idea. Things he designs are always exactly as complex as they need to be — and no more.
